Adrianne Palicki is shooting into space with Seth MacFarlane.
The Friday Night Lights and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alum will star opposite the Family Guy overlord in Fox’s space-set, live-action comedic drama for the 2017 season, the network confirmed on Friday.
MacFarlane is serving as the star, creator, and executive producer of the untitled 24th-century-set show, which received a 13-episode order. The show will chronicle the exploits of the Orville, a “not-so-top-of-the-line” ship in Earth’s interstellar Fleet. MacFarlane will play Ed, captain of Orville, while Palicki will play Kelly Grayson, ex-wife of Ed and the freshly appointed First Officer of the Orville.
Scott Grimes, an ER vet who is a cast member of MacFarlane’s animated comedy American Dad, is also joining the cast in the role of Gordon, Ed’s best friend and the pilot of the Orville.
“I’ve wanted to do something like this show ever since I was a kid, and the timing finally feels right,” said MacFarlane in a statement back in May when the series was announced.
Palicki also starred in ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D spin-off pilot, Marvel’s Most Wanted, which ABC passed on this spring.
Deadline first reported the news.
