Warning: The following post contains spoilers for this week’s Mr. Robot.
A knockout even for a show known for its cold opens, the first 10 minutes of this week’s Mr. Robot featured not only what amounts to the origin story of fsociety, but one wicked fake ’80s horror movie. The Careful Massacre of the Bourgeoisie was a staple of Elliot’s and Darlene’s childhood and is also where the hacker collective found their iconic symbol.
The movie-within-a-TV show was written and directed by one of Mr. Robot‘s writers/producers, Adam Penn, and works as a lovingly cheesy nod to bad ’80s slasher flicks.
And now the movie (or at least the first eight minutes) is available online, along with a nifty VHS cover. The movie is very NSFW, so enjoy it once you’re away from coworkers.
