Morgan Freeman narrated Hillary Clinton film, and Twitter loved it
Morgan Freeman became a top trending topic on Twitter Thursday night after viewers of the Democratic National Convention heard his voice take over their TVs as he narrated the Shonda Rhimes-produced film introducing Hillary Clinton.
“Here is a woman,” the voiceover began, his commanding, unique voice instantly recognizable. “What does she dream of? When does she feel proud? How does many times will she leave her mark? How many ways will she light up the world?”
Freeman was the focus of thousands of tweets, including former The Good Wife star Josh Charles, who wrote, “If this video ends with Morgan Freeman saying ‘I miss my friend Andy Dufresne’ then the Democrats win it all,” referencing Freeman’s famous line from The Shawshank Redemption.
(The video didn’t end with that, incidentally.)
Patton Oswalt also chimed in, noting the “Voice Over God,” while a different Morgan — Spurlock — called for a new candidate in this election: “Morgan Freeman’s Voice for President #2016.”
Some even went as far as to compare Clinton’s keynote speech attire — a white pant suit — to movie the wardrobe donned by Freeman in Bruce Almighty and its sequel, Evan Almighty, where he played God.
