This year’s Democratic National Convention is taking place in Philadelphia, one of America’s founding metropolises and a city known today mostly for being the home of the Philly cheesesteak. So when Stephen Colbert arrived in town to cover the DNC, he naturally grabbed a cheesesteak at the first opportunity. The one he chose to eat, however, was found on the ground a few hours old, and sent the host into a psychedelic dreamscape, where he sang a “Tomorrow Never Knows”-like song about the current state of the Democratic Party, backed by dancers in ’60s hippie outfits.

“There’s Bernie in a suit he bought at the dollar store, confetti made of emails staffers shredded the night before, Liz Warren disses wealth, O’Malley is a DILF, Bill’s on a leash, Joe smokes hashish, Michelle can plagiarize herself,” Colbert sang.
