Mystery Science Theater 3000: Netflix revival announced by streaming service
The hecklers have found their new home: Netflix will distribute the revival of Mystery Science Theater 3000 in “the not-too-distant future.”
The streaming platform made the announcement on social media with a gif featuring the shadows of the iconic B-movie critics. A press release states the show will be available to Netflix subscribers in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the U.K., and Ireland.
MST3K first aired in 1989 and followed a human host trapped on the Satellite of Love by a mad scientist and two robot sidekicks, who forced him to watch B-level films.
Original creator Joel Hodgson along with Jonah Ray, Felicia Day, and original cast members Mary Jo Pehl, Bill Corbett, and Kevin Murphy will be featured in the revival, with Elliott Kalan, Joel McHale, and Dan Harmon aboard as writers. Patton Oswalt also joins the roster as the new Evil Henchman.
“It’s a dream come true, really,” Day told EW during an interview at Comic-Con. “Being a fan of something and then being in it is, like, how did I get this life?” See her full interview above.
