Late Show: Stephen Colbert drinks beer on TV after RNC live shows
- TV Show
Stephen Colbert deserves a cold one after this week. Following his live show coverage of the Republican National Convention on The Late Show, the fearless host popped open a beer on TV to celebrate.
“I cannot wait for this week to be over so I can have a drink, so I won’t wait. I’m gonna have myself a Bud Light. Bud Light, the beer we could get,” he said in a segment that was recorded Thursday night and aired Friday. “Please drink responsibly, whether or not I do.”
Colbert enlisted his longtime buddy Jon Stewart to aid in coverage of the RNC, which Colbert crashed dressed as The Hunger Games‘ Caesar Flickerman. “Look, I know I’m not supposed to be up here, but let’s be honest, neither is Donald Trump,” he said on the convention stage.
Later in the week, Stewart brought some of his Daily Show flavor to The Late Show in tearing into Trump’s supporters. He said in part, “You just want that person to give you your country back, because you feel you’re this country’s rightful owners. There’s only one problem with that: This country isn’t yours. You don’t own it. It never was.”
In short, it’s been a long week. “Tonight, we’ll be looking back on the highlights of the convention, as well as sharing new stuff we didn’t have time for this week, like seeing our families or bathing,” Colbert said on Friday’s show. “I only rinsed this week.”
