BBC America’s upcoming series Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency isn’t like anything else on TV. But if showrunner Robert Cooper had to make a comparison, he’d say it’s somewhere in the realm of three popular shows.

“It’s a combination of Supernatural, Sherlock, and Doctor Who,” Cooper told EW at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday. “We’re like, Super-Sher-Who.”

“I don’t think that there’s anything really like this on TV right now,” actress Jade Eshete explains. “We’re all very different, but you see these oddities and these tangential things that don’t seem to be connected at all or make sense, and yet somehow they all do and they all end up coming together and working towards figuring out this mystery.”

Featuring Elijah Wood, Samuel Barnett, Jade Eshete, and Hannah Marks, Dirk Gently follows the titular holistic detective as he works with his reluctant assistant to figure out a mystery.

“There are so many story lines in the first season that in each case the characters could be the stars of their own show,” Cooper explains.
