Power renewed for fourth and fifth seasons
Starz has greenlit Power for a fourth and fifth season, the network announced Tuesday.
The news comes only two days after the crime drama’s record-breaking season 3 premiere. Its 2.26 million viewer pull landed the channel its best original series debut numbers, making it the most-watched episode of any Starz original to date.
“I knew Power was going to be something special from the first concept meeting I had with [executive producer] Mark Canton,” executive producer 50 Cent said in a statement. “The fans support for the show has been the driving force of its success and I can’t wait to bring them two more seasons full of action and suspense.”
Since launching in 2014, Power has raked in wide acclaim for its high-thrill storylines, shadowing drug lord Ghost (Omari Hardwick) as he struggles to transform from street-savvy club owner to business tycoon. Creator/showrunner Courtney A. Kemp previously teased the ongoing season, promising its drama only amplifies.
“I want to pump more octane in it,” she told EW earlier this month. “I want to create more stimuli. It’s not that you can’t have quiet moments, but I wanted people to have this adrenaline-fueled experience.”
Power airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Starz.
