Burn This

Jake Gyllenhaal is coming back to Broadway. The actor will star in the first Broadway revival of Lanford Wilson’s play Burn This, directed by Michael Mayer.

The Tony-winning play is set in downtown New York in the 1980s and “explores the spiritual and emotional isolation of Pale and Anna, two iconoclasts who are brought together in the wake of a life-changing event,” according to a press release. Previews will begin in February 2017 with an opening night set for Monday, March 6, 2017. Burn This will be the first show to bow in the historic and soon-to-be-reopened Hudson Theatre. No other casting has been announced.

Gyllenhaal made his Broadway debut opposite Ruth Wilson (The Affair) in the play Constellations during the 2014-2015 season. Last summer, he starred as Seymour in a concert production of Little Shop of Horrors at New York City Center — the same venue where he’s due to star in a concert performance of Sunday in the Park With George this fall.
