Against Me!, “333”
The indie-rock legends shared two singles from their forthcoming tenth studio album, Schmilco, in the past week: “Locator” and “If I Ever Was a Child.” The latter eschews the flashy, glammed-out bliss of 2015’s Star Wars, deploying drifting steel guitars and economical percussion to underscore the melancholy in frontman Jeff Tweedy’s nostalgic lyrics. It’s the welcome return of a style some of the band’s fans may have missed last year. A- —ERB
