Saturday Night Live is taking a break from summer vacation to offer its two comedic cents on the political conventions.

Sort of.

Colin Jost and Michael Che will return to the anchor desk to host a pair of special editions of “Weekend Update” for MSNBC.The first will air July 20 around midnight ET on MSNBC, following the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, while the second will air midnight-ish on July 27, after the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. Look for the two late-night jesters to pop up as correspondents on mother network NBC’s Today on July 20 and July 27.

Speaking of live and comedy and politics, Stephen Colbert begins two weeks of not-previously-taped action Monday night on CBS, as The Colbert Report covers the conventions. (Bonus: Jon Stewart will make an appearance on tonight’s broadcast.) And speaking of things that sound like CBS, TBS will air a special edition of Full Frontal on Wednesday, tied to the Republican National Convention.
