Telltale's Batman game gets release date, Comic-Con preview
Batman – The Telltale Series has received its official release date, as well as a preview during Comic-Con International.
Fans attending the San Diego pop culture expo next week will be granted a sneak peek at the first episode during a crowd-play event on Saturday, July 23, hosted by Greg Miller and featuring voice actor Troy Baker, who plays Bruce Wayne.
Telltale is known for its award-winning narrative take on The Walking Dead as well as titles based on the Game of Thrones, Minecraft, and Borderlands franchises. The studio’s foray into the Batman mythos aims to take a page from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, focusing on both Bruce Wayne and his alter ego Batman, and allowing players to handle situations as one or the other.
“We are trying to get behind the mask — to the man,” executive producer T.Q. Jefferson said earlier this year. “It’s trying to get to the core of Bruce Wayne and why he makes the decisions that he makes.”
The game will be available for purchase from retailers on Sept. 13 in North America and Sept. 16 in Europe as a special Season Pass Disc, which will include the first five episodes for the season. The remaining four episodes will be available as online updates upon release.
The first episode is slated to release digitally in August, with an official date to be announced during the premiere trailer releasing next week.
Batman – The Telltale Series will release on Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC/Mac, and iOS or Android devices.
