Taylor Swift wrote Calvin Harris single This is What You Came For
Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris’ now-defunct relationship wasn’t just confined to romance: The singer also wrote Harris’ “This Is What You Came For,” her rep confirmed to EW.
The track, released this past April, features Rihanna on vocals and has so far peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Swift, who previously showed her support for “This Is What You Came For” when she wore a jacket featuring its cover art at Coachella in April, wrote the single under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg, according to Swift’s rep. Swift and Harris broke up in June.
Back in April, Harris sat down with Ryan Seacrest and when the DJ was asked whether he would collaborate with Swift on music, he said, “You know, we haven’t even spoken about it. I can’t see it happening though.”
Swift has three Song of the Year Grammy nominations to her name, and is known for writing her own songs. She last released an album, 1989, in 2014.
On Twitter, Harris confirmed Swift wrote the song and added that she also sang on a little “bit of it too.”
“Amazing lyric writer and she smashed it as usual,” he wrote.
He also criticized the news becoming public, saying it was “hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though.”
“I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do,” he wrote. “I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it.”
Harris closed out by writing, “Please focus on the positive aspects of YOUR life because you’ve earned a great one.”
