Superman is already set to make his arrival in National City when Supergirl returns this fall, and now another DC character is set to join the show. Floriana Lima has been cast is the series regular role of Maggie Sawyer, EW has confirmed.

Lima, who starred in the recently canceled ABC drama The Family, will bring to life a gay character who is notable from the DC comic universe for her police work. As a detective for the National City Police Department, Sawyer takes an interest in alien-related cases.

Supergirl has been busy casting up for its second season as the series moves from CBS to The CW. Notable additions include Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, Ian Gomez as Snapper Carr, and Wonder Woman herself, Lynda Carter, will play the president of the United States.

The show will make its CW debut on Aug. 1 as the first season will be re-aired with two episodes each Monday leading up to the season two premiere on Oct. 10.
