Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone can’t keep their eyes off each other.

Gosling, 35, and Stone, 27, are reuniting for the third time on screen in the upcoming romantic musical La La Land — and PEOPLE has the first look at a teaser trailer for the film.

In the clip, a dedicated jazz musician named Sebastian (Gosling) and his girlfriend, aspiring actress Mia (Stone), struggle to cope with the pressures of trying to make it big in Hollywood.

The mostly wordless montage, set to the tune of the original song “City of Stars” performed by Gosling, features the couple supporting each another as they cycle through various auditions, performances and rejections.

“City of stars, are you shining just for me? City of stars, there’s so much I can’t see,” Gosling sings. “Is this the start of something wonderful and new — or one more dream that I cannot make true.”

The trailer ends with Stone and Gosling embracing in a passionate kiss while inside a crowded room.

“City of Stars” is available for download now via iTunes and also on streaming services.

La La Land, directed by Damien Chazelle (Whiplash), is set to premiere on the opening night of the Venice Film Festival on Aug. 31, and hits theaters Dec. 2. Check out the film’s cover art below.
