Walton Goggins has been very busy over the past couple of years, starring in Quentin Tarantino’s film The Hateful Eight, filming his new HBO sitcom Vice Principals (premieres July 17), and playing a retired Navy SEAL in HISTORY’s forthcoming drama SIX. But the actor still misses inhabiting his signature role of Boyd Crowder on FX’s cop show Justified.

“I’ve never missed him as much as I did last September, when usually we go back to work,” Goggins tells EW. “He’s never more than a cold beer and an intellectual, Machiavellian comment away.”

Indeed, Goggins says we may not have seen the last of the nefarious Crowder, who ended the show behind bars. “He’ll get out,” says the actor. “Someday, he’ll get out. I’ll give it another three or four years, but he’ll get out. I wouldn’t be averse to returning to that relationship with Tim Olyphant’s Raylan Givens for a very specific run. Maybe there’s one more chapter to that story. It’s hard to kill your babies, man. It’s hard to lay them down.”

You can see Goggins along with Danny McBride and Bill Murray in the trailer for Vice Principals, below. The show premieres July 17 at 10:30 p.m. ET on HBO.
