For the fifth year in a row, Supernatural‘s Misha Collins is preparing to launch GISHWHES, a week-long global scavenger hunt that will take place from July 30 to August 6. And this year, Collins is adding something new to the hunt: the Gishbus.
The Gishbus — complete with interactive challenges, candy art installations, an exclusive VIP area, a bathroom-turned social media cave, and more — is a mobile humanitarian art project promoting artistic creation, acts of sublime public performances, and random acts of kindness across the country.
“I launched the Gishbus as I saw a gap in the market for a premium VIP mobile executive experience in the frequent-scavenger hunter-membership-program space (which as we all know is a huge and underserved market),” Collins tells EW in an email. “My hope is that this executive VIP experience can not only garner support for many local charities and causes across the country but also provide our frequent Gishers with a mobile retreat and community experience that is a clear respite and sanctuary from the chaos and pandemonium of their daily lives.”
“Parts of the Gishbus are actually air conditioned and the seats are upholstered with (unused) maxi pads, so obviously it’s a very luxurious and pampering experience,” Collins continues. “Moreover, politicians have campaign buses leading up to elections, so it seemed pretty obvious to me that we should have a GISHWHES bus leading up to this year’s GISHWHES — with our campaign to ‘Make America Weird Again!’ Registration is closing very soon. So go to GISHWHES.com and get on the proverbial bus!”
The Gishbus will tour the country, partnering with local charities to support causes as it goes. And EW can exclusively reveal the Gishbus’ schedule:
Friday, July 8: Atlanta, Ga.
Saturday, July 9: Orlanda, Fla.
Tuesday, July 12: New Orleans, La.
Saturday July 16 or Sunday, July 17: Phoenix, Ariz. – Los Angles, Calif.
Saturday, July 23: San Diego for San Diego Comic-Con
The Gishbus will be staffed by long-time Gishwhes participants, and yes, Collins will make appearances in certain cities along the way. Registration for this year’s hunt is now open.
