The Pixies previewed new music all the way back in February with a cryptic tease: “Pixies: Coming… 2016.” Now, they’re making good on the promise with the official announcement of a new album, Head Carrier, and the release of its first song, “Um Chagga Lagga.”

The band originally broke up after 1991’s Trompe Le Monde, but got back together in 2014 for Indie Cindy. This new album is their first since then and will feature 12 songs from the current lineup, which now includes A Perfect Circle’s Paz Lenchantin on bass. (Longtime bassist Kim Deal was first replaced by The Muffs’ Kim Shattuck, who was fired soon after joining.)

Head Carrier is due out Sept. 30 via Pixiesmusic/ Play it Again Sam, and is now available for pre-order here. The band recorded the collection at London’s RAK with producer Tom Dalgety. The band also announced European tour dates, and teased via Facebook that U.K. dates are coming soon. Hear “Um Chagga Lagga” below.
