Adele honors Prince in his hometown
The '25' star played one of the Purple One's music videos during her U.S. tour opener
Adele opened her U.S. tour in St. Paul, Minnesota on Tuesday night, and when she left the stage after her set, she was quickly replaced by late hometown hero Prince. She projected the music video for his 1995 classic, “The Most Beautiful Girl In The World,” on the backdrop of the main stage. The star let the clip play in full, to the delight of the 15,0000 fans in front of her.
“Did you enjoy that Prince video?” Adele asked the crowd as she returned for her encore, before explaining, “I did consider covering a song but then I was like, ‘F— it, it’s Prince!”
She also said that her team wondered if they should censor the tune — any plans of which Adele quickly halted. “You can’t censor Prince in his hometown!” She said. She was right, and the mainly local attendance loved her for it.
