All it takes is one bad day, and Batman’s is just getting started.

In a new clip from Batman: The Killing Joke, Warner Bros’. animated movie based on the famed Alan Moore comic, the Dark Knight heads to Arkham Asylum for a heart-to-heart with his old nemesis the Joker. Suffice it to say, it’s not a productive chat.

While Batman wants to discuss their lethal dynamic — “This is life and death, mine or yours,” he says — something’s wrong. Pulling back his glove, he finds it smeared with white makeup, indicating that the supposed criminal mastermind sitting across from him is not the real Joker.

As fans of Moore’s famed 1988 comic know, the Clown Prince of Crime has lots more mayhem up his sleeve, and the filmmakers have promised to remain faithful to the controversial source material with an R-rated adaptation.
