Steven Tyler recently told Howard Stern that the next Aerosmith tour would be the band’s last, but guitarist Joe Perry isn’t so sure about that: “It could be the last,” Perry told Rolling Stone. “But it’s really hard for me to imagine a last gig. Sorry.”

In June, Tyler said, “We’re doing a farewell tour, but only because it’s time. We’ve never done that.” Perry, though, says the idea of a farewell tour is only “an option.”

“… at this point in our lives and our career, maybe it is time to say, ‘OK, it’s the end of this era, but a new era is on the horizon,'” Perry, who is currently on tour with Hollywood Vampires, said. “So I don’t know if I’m comfortable saying ‘final tour’ and making a big deal out of it, but we’ll see what happens. If it was going to happen, we’re closer to it than, say, any other time in our insane career.”

Aerosmith formed in the early ’70s and last released a new album in 2012. Tyler’s been focusing on his solo career, and is debuting his first album without the band July 15.
