Arrow adds Tyler Ritter in major recurring role

Tyler Ritter has joined the cast of Arrow in a major recurring role for season 5, EW has confirmed.

Ritter, whose credits include The McCarthys and NCIS, will play Detective Malone, a new cop at Star City Police Department, filling the void left by Captain Lance (Paul Blackthorne). The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.

The actor joins the growing roster of new and returning characters in season 5, including Chad L. Coleman as a new villain; Madison McLaughlin, who will reprise her role as Evelyn Sharp; Rick Gonzalez, who will play Wild Dog; and Josh Segarra, who will take up the mantle of the Vigilante.

Arrow will return Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
