In the first trailer for the psychological thriller The 9th Life of Louis Drax, Jamie Dornan plays a psychologist on a mission to rescue a young comatose patient — and to unravel the mystery behind the accident that landed the 9-year-old in a coma in the first place.
Did Louis (Aiden Longworth) fall off a cliff? Was he pushed by his “aggressive” father (Aaron Paul)? And how did he survive after he was proclaimed dead for two hours? “We’re not supposed to use the word miracle, but this might call for an exception,” Dornan’s character, Dr. Allan Pascal, tells Louis’ mother Natalie (Sarah Gadon) in the trailer.
Based on Liz Jensen’s bestselling novel of the same name, 9th Life sees Pascal go to great lengths to find out what happened to Louis, including trying to access the boy’s consciousness — with nightmarish results. Directed by Alexandre Aja (Horns, The Hills Have Eyes), the film also stars Oliver Platt, Barbara Hershey, and Molly Parker, among others.
