No awards show is complete with a surprise performance, and Queen B dropped in on Sunday’s BET Awards to sing “Freedom” from Lemonade.

Opening the show up, Beyoncé’s backup dancers walked into frame as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech played. The camera then focused on Bey, as her dancers joined her on stage to perform the water dancing routine they’ve been perfecting on the “Formation” world tour.

In a twist from the tour, however, Kendrick Lamar also joined to rap his “Freedom” verse live. Bey danced behind him before they finished the performance out together, rocking through the water on stage.

Rumors began to spread that she would show up when her “Formation” world tour backup dancers arrived on the red carpet together. The pre-show also featured Beyoncé’s recent proteges Chloe x Halle, who wouldn’t spill the beans on if their mentor would appear on stage or not.

But speculation ramped up when Tia Mowry said she was excited to see Beyoncé even though her presence hadn’t been announced.
