Anna Kendrick and James Corden perform pop love song medley
The car isn’t the only place James Corden can sing. On Wednesday night, The Late Late Show host had Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick as a guest but rather than take her for a ride on Carpool Karaoke, Corden tried something else. Together, he and Kendrick performed a medley of various pop love songs, as a Soundtrack to a Love Story.
True to both performers’ roots as theater kids, they not only cycled through the canon of modern pop love songs, they also moved between outfits and miniature sets. So as Kendrick started with Aretha Franklin’s “I Say a Little Prayer,” she was a woman putting on makeup and getting ready for a date. Then Corden came in with Chris Burgh’s “Lady in Red,” and the two moved to a bar scene. Their rendition of “I Can’t Feel My Face” was a smoke-filled club dance session, and Boyz II Men’s “I’ll Make Love to You” featured them as a couple in bed for the first time (Corden even took off his belt). Kendrick and Corden didn’t back away from the big songs either, from Adele’s “Someone Like You” to Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.”
