Whoopi Goldberg is one of those unique people who seems to exist outside of time. She has been herself for so long that one rarely thinks of her in connection with recent technological advancements. And yet, on Tuesday’s episode of The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon introduced her to that ubiquitous art form of modern technology: the selfie.

No, seriously, it was Goldberg’s first time taking a selfie. For a second there, she thought “Duck Face” was a person. Having switched places with the audience, Fallon and Goldberg sat in the onlookers’ seats as the host treated his guest to her first selfie and first Snapchat. It took a few tries (and the introduction of some duckface) to get the photo right, but lo and behold, it was accomplished.

“Now we just Snapped,” Fallon said.

“Are we chatting?” Goldberg asked.

“That comes next,” Fallon said.
