Curtis Sittenfeld’s bestselling debut novel Prep is currently being developed as a new comedy series at HBO, EW can confirm.
According to Deadline, which first reported the news, the Random House title is being developed by Colleen McGuinness, a former writer and producer on 30 Rock, and Carolyn Strauss, who currently executive-produces Game of Thrones for the network.
Sittenfeld’s novel tells the story of a young Midwestern girl as she blossoms into young adulthood while attending an elite New England boarding school. McGuinness will also reportedly write and co-executive-produce the series with Strauss, who formerly served as HBO’s programming chief.
McGuinness was previously nominated for an Emmy for her work on 30 Rock, while Strauss won at the 2015 awards ceremony for her work on Game of Thrones.
Casting and further details have yet to be announced.
