Carpool Karaoke: Michelle Obama next to ride
James Corden’s next Carpool Karaoke ride is going to take him all the way to the White House.
Michelle Obama will be the next passenger on The Late Late Show’s viral mobile music segment on, the First Lady announced Tuesday on Snapchat, which she just joined.
The video showed Corden saying, “Hi, I am at the White House today and I’m going to take a spin in a car and sing some songs with…” and then Obama chimed in with “Me!”
Her segment is being filmed on Tuesday, and an airdate has yet to be determined.
The First Lady is an unconventional choice for the bit, as previous Carpools have focused on professional singers/musicians or Broadway performers. (George Clooney and Julia Roberts, of course, did wind up on Gwen Stefani’s segment.) Obama is no stranger to making appearances in entertainment programs, though. She guest-starred last month on both NCIS and The Night Shift to promote the Joining Forces initiative. She occasionally appears on late-night talk shows, and has popped up on Parks and Recreation, Nashville, Shark Tank, and Jessie. And, hey, her husband did go for a ride with Jerry Seinfeld on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.
Recent Carpool passengers have included Jennifer Lopez, Stefani, Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato, Lin-Manuel Miranda. Monday night’s guest, Selena Gomez, took Corden on a rollercoaster.
