Spider-Man, meet Star-Lord.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn recently announced that production is wrapping up on his Marvel sequel, and while the Guardians team hasn’t even left the building yet, another superhero movie has already moved in.
Spider-Man: Homecoming begins filming Monday at the same Atlanta studio, and after the two movies bumped into each other on set, Gunn shared a photo on Facebook with Tom Holland and Chris Pratt, sending plenty of positive vibes toward Holland and Spider-Man director Jon Watts.
“Many blessings today to the star of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland, and the film’s director, Jon Watts (standing in here for Jon is some dude that was passing by), as they begin their shoot in Atlanta just as we are ending ours,” Gunn wrote. “I don’t think we could pass the Marvel baton to two nicer, better guys who care more about what they’re doing. Kill it!”
Holland also shared a photo of his own from the production, teasing his role as the new Peter Parker.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is slated for release on May 5, 2017, while Spider-Man: Homecoming will hit theaters a few months later on July 7. In the meantime, we’ll be dreaming of a Spider-Man/Guardians of the Galaxy crossover that involves Spider-Man going to space while Groot and Rocket visit Queens.
