Susan Sarandon is adding her voice to the chorus of costars, friends, and fans paying tribute to the late Anton Yelchin.

Sarandon, who starred alongside Yelchin in the 2008 coming-of-age film Middle of Nowhere, shared a tribute to the young actor on Facebook.

“Anton Yelchin was an original,” she wrote. “One of the most curious, funny, sweet people I’ve ever known. He was a searcher, an incredible talent and a loyal and loving son. Any time would be too soon for his departure from this plane, but this is an unforgivable and unbearable loss. My heart and prayers goes out to his family. I can’t even imagine what they are feeling.”

Directed by John Stockwell, Middle of Nowhere starred Sarandon as an irresponsible mother, with her real-life daughter Eva Amurri playing her ambitious daughter Grace. Yelchin played a teenage drug dealer who befriends Grace.

Yelchin, who was best known for playing Chekov in the Star Trek franchise and for roles in films like Charlie Bartlett and Green Room, died early Sunday morning at the age of 27. Since then, an outpouring of his collaborators and friends have shared tributes to Yelchin, including Star Trek directors J.J. Abrams and Justin Lin, as well as costars Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Zachary Quinto, and John Cho.
