Justin Timberlake has paid tribute to the late Anton Yelchin, with whom he costarred in the 2006 crime drama Alpha Dog.

“Anton Yelchin. Genius actor. Amazing human being. Gone WAY too soon,” Timberlake tweeted. “May he rest in peace.”

Alpha Dog is a crime drama inspired by the 2000 murder of Nicholas Markowitz. Timberlake played Frankie, the best friend of drug dealer Johnny Truelove (Emile Hirsch). They kidnap Zack (Yelchin), the teenage brother of a debtor (Ben Foster) to seek ransom. While in captivity, Zack becomes friends with Frankie.

Hirsch also remembered Yelchin. “I can’t believe Anton is gone,” he tweeted Sunday. “He was a great man, a true friend, and an artist. Love you buddy.”

The Star Trek star died early Sunday morning at 27 years old. He’s been remembered by his Trek directors J.J. Abrams and Justin Lin, and costars Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Zachary Quinto, and John Cho. Middle of Nowhere costar Susan Sarandon memorialized Yelchin in a moving Facebook letter, calling him “one of the most curious, funny, sweet people I’ve ever known.”
