Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato seem to be everywhere these days. Jonas, after all, was just on the cover of EW’s own Summer Must List issue, and the two are getting ready to kick off their Future Now Tour. But when they appeared on The Late Show on Thursday night, Stephen Colbert had a few questions. Notably, what was going on when Jonas posed for a photograph with Donald Trump?

As Jonas explained, he was hosting Miss USA back in 2013, “when [Trump] was a different person,” Colbert noted, and suddenly the teleprompter went out just as he was supposed to introduce Trump.

“I was up there with nothing, with no script,” Jonas said. “So I just said, ‘One of the most important people in the room, Mr. Donald Trump.’ And when he came up he was like, ‘The most important person in the room.'”&

“That’s actually his campaign slogan,” Colbert said.
