What to Watch Wednesday: Another Period
Plus: RuPaul's new game show and a double dose of Jay Leno
Your daily guide to the most interesting stuff happening on TV and streaming. All times Eastern.
PICK OF THE NIGHT
Comedy Central, 10 p.m.
The genre-mashing spoof — Real Housewives of Downton Abbey, basically — returns for season 2 with plenty of intrigue. Who knew spoiled socialite sisters Lillian (Natasha Leggero) and Beatrice (Riki Lindhome) would become the Bellacourt clan’s last hope? When the family fortune runs dry, the Commodore (David Koechner) forces his eligible daughters — Hortense who? — to marry wealthy bachelors and rub shoulders with real-life historical icons like the Roosevelts and Albert Einstein.
Skin Wars: Fresh Paint
GSN, 10 p.m.
Big fan of Skin Wars proper? The Game Show Network spins off the show by getting top former contestants to coach six new artists each week, all for a $10,000 prize. But I’m burying the lede here: It’s hosted by RuPaul! That fact alone should make it worth checking out.
AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to John Williams
TNT, 10 p.m.
Literally one of my most favorite things in the world is the theme music from Jurassic Park. John Williams did that. He also composed the scores for such classics as Jaws, Star Wars, E.T., Harry Potter, and a host of other iconic films. Tonight, the legend gets honored by the AFI — and, fittingly, Steven Spielberg will be presenting the award.
Jay Leno’s Garage
CNBC, 10 p.m.
Jerry Seinfeld, James Corden, Jay Leno… All these J-named comedians love producing car-centric televison programming!
LOOK WHO’S BACK
The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon
NBC, 11:35 p.m.
Speaking of Jay Leno, the twice-former host of The Tonight Show returns to his old program to chat it up with his (second) successor. I wonder if Conan will watch?
