It is no secret that, even today, moviegoers looking for Asian or Asian-American actors in mainstream Hollywood films often need a good deal of patience — and strong glasses. Each year, the New York Asian Film Festival offers an important corrective to that situation, and the 2016 event, which takes place June 22-July 9, is no exception.

The 51 movie-strong schedule of the NYAFF includes the world premiere of Kazuya Shiraishi’s crime epic Twisted Justice, the North American premiere of Ralston Jover’s Hamog (Haze) about a gang of street kids, and the international premiere of Adam Tsuei’s sexually explicit thriller, The Tenants Downstairs.

But, hey, enough of my yakkin’. You can get a much better feel for the wide-ranging scope of this year’s NYAFF by watching the exclusive trailer, above.
