Nick Zano boards Legends of Tomorrow as series regular
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is about to get even more legendary.
Nick Zano is set to join the cast in the series regular role of Dr. Nate Heywood, EW can confirm. Haywood is a historian who happens to be the grandson of Henry Heywood, a.k.a Commander Steel, a member of Justice Society of America. It’s not known if the younger Haywood will follow in his grandfather’s footsteps, but in the comics he becomes known as Citizen Steel.
Legends teased the introduction of Justice Society at the end of the first season with Patrick J. Adams joining the show as Hourman. “We’re planting a big flag that season 2 of Legends will not only feature the Legends of Tomorrow, but also the JSA,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim told EW last month. “Phil Klemmer, Geoff Johns, Dan Evans, and I sat down in a room at DC with a list, and it’s a long list, of the members of the JSA. One of the more fun afternoons I’ve had recently is sitting down and actually composing our JSA lineup, our perfect JSA lineup. That was a blast to do.”
The addition of Zano, who recently starred in Fox’s short-lived Minority Report, comes as the CW show is retooling its cast for season 2. Ciara Renee won’t be returning as Hawkgirl. While Wentworth Miller will no longer be a regular on Legends, he will still appear across the network’s DC properties. Joining Heywood as a new face on Legends in the fall is the comic book character of Vixen, who was brought to life by Megalyn E.K. last season of Arrow, but will appear in a different incarnation played by an actor yet to be chosen.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will return to the CW on Thursdays this fall.
