Writer-director Joe Begos’ Must List-approved debut movie, 2013’s Almost Human, was a hugely entertaining, ’80s-evoking alien-monster movie. And his follow-up, The Mind’s Eye, looks equally capable of tickling genre fans’ fancies, judging by its new trailer.

Boasting a veritable A-to-Z of beloved indie-horror thesps, the film stars Graham Skipper (Almost Human, the upcoming Carnage Park) as a man with very special mental abilities desperate to rescue his similarly-gifted girlfriend (Lauren Ashley Carter, so memorable in the recent chiller Darling) from the hands of a psychotic doctor (Wendigo actor John Speredakos). The movie’s cast also includes Noah Segan (Some Kind of Hate, Starry Eyes), Matt Mercer (the Contracted franchise), Jeremy Gardner (The Battery), Brian Morvant (Darling, Pod), Josh Ethier (Almost Human), Sam Zimmerman (the recently-wrapped Psychopaths), and The Last Winter director Larry Fessenden, among others.

The Mind’s Eye will be released in theaters, on VOD, and via iTunes, Aug. 5. You can exclusively see the film’s trailer, above.
