Justin Bieber performed a touching tribute to Christina Grimmie on Saturday night, collapsing to the floor of the stage as he belted lyrics to his song “Purpose” in tribute to the late singer at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Canada.

“Grimmie, can you hear me?” he said while fighting back tears during the heartfelt performance. Fans captured the moment on camera, which you can see in the video below.

Bieber reportedly met Grimmie, who finished third on the sixth season of NBC’s reality competition series The Voice and was killed Friday, June 10, through his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, whose stepfather served as the late singer’s manager. Gomez previously paid tribute to Grimmie onstage during a Miami tour stop, wiping away tears as she performed a cover of Hillsong Worship’s “Transfiguration” in her late friend’s honor.

The 22-year-old singer died after a fan shot and killed her while she signed autographs following a performance in Orlando, Florida. Her Voice coach Adam Levine has since offered to pay for her funeral, while fellow judges Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, and Blake Shelton offered their condolences on Twitter.

Bieber’s Purpose World Tour continues through Nov. 29.
