Microsoft is opening up its Xbox games to a huge new audience with the announcement of the Xbox Play Anywhere initiative.

When customers buy select titles, including this fall’s big release Gears of War 4, they’ll be able to play on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC at no additional cost, and game save data and achievements will carry over between both versions.

Xbox Play Anywhere also adds cross-platform multiplayer support, meaning you can play the Gears 4 co-operative campaign on your Xbox with someone playing on PC.

Xbox Play Anywhere is currently limited to upcoming first-party releases such as Forza Horizon 3 and ReCore, although Microsoft expects to add third-party games to the service eventually.
