Nearly a decade after their 2007 single “Untouched” peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, Australian pop stars The Veronicas are back with the new, bouncy single “In My Blood.”

After experimenting with synth-infused sounds on their sophomore LP, 2007’s Hook Me Up, identical twins Jessica and Lisa Origliasso waited seven years to release a follow-up, though their last album, 2014’s The Veronicas, saw the duo return to the pop-rock stylings of their 2005 debut, The Secret Life of…

“In My Blood,” however, is a subtle banger prime for the summer season, with crystalline electronic production (and bongos!) accompanying a killer hook. “We don’t have to wait all night to know if this is really love. We don’t have to wait all night ’cause I can feel you in my blood,” they croon as a throbbing bass line carries the track’s intensely satisfying hook into a cool, robotic drop.

The song’s club-ready energy feels like a fresh take for the sisters, though its vibe slightly recalls the ravey non-album track “Lolita” (produced by Toby Gad) from the pair’s shelved Life on Mars album before the project changed sonic direction and morphed into their eponymous 2014 set.

In their native Australia, The Veronicas’ three studio albums have each been certified Platinum or higher, while they’ve notched nine top-10 singles (including two at No. 1). In the U.S., “Untouched” was certified Platinum, while fellow Hook Me Up single “Take Me on the Floor” hit No. 81 on the Hot 100 in 2008. In May, they teased a new album was in the works by posting a short video to their Instagram account.
