Héloïse Letissier is still riding the high of her critically acclaimed English-language debut as Christine and the Queens, which was released last fall and earned her coveted spots on several year-end lists. In the past few weeks, the French pop star has been hitting the festival circuit across the U.S., winning over audiences at Coachella, Boston Calling, and Governors Ball with her ornate synth-pop, impressive dance moves, and theatrical performances that already made bigs fan out of Madonna and Haim.

On Thursday, Letissier, who mostly goes by Christine now, stopped by the EW office to dish about her new album (“I’m really in the plotting stage … I’m writing a lot of new songs”) and answer fan questions about her androgynous fashion sense (“I love how genderless and neutral a suit can be”), and her emotional trip to Beyoncé’s Formation World Tour (“I was like a child, I was crying with excitement”).
