'Arrested Development' duo reunites for 'Drunk History'
- TV Show
Buster Bluth and Maeby Fünke are back together — and luckily it’s not just one of Gob’s silly illusions.
Arrested Development alums Tony Hale and Alia Shawkat reunited on Thursday, donning very non-Bluth like outfits. Hale shared the moment on Instagram and wrote, “Arrested Season 5. Been a few changes.”
Someone in the wardrobe department hadn’t made a huge mistake as the actors weren’t filming an episode of their beloved Netflix comedy, but actually an upcoming episode of Comedy Central’s Drunk History.
There’s currently no definitive timetable for when Arrested will return, but in December executive producer Ron Howard shared that creator Mitch Hurwitz has been working on the new season. “It’s hopeful – what has happened is that the cast has become so freakin’ in demand and busy,” said Howard. “Everyone wants to do it. Fans want it. I would be saddened if we didn’t achieve it.”
Meanwhile David Cross, who stars as Tobias, the therapist/actor/blue man, tempered down expectations when speaking to EW in January. “I’ll believe it when I see it,” he said. “I know that they’re writing, I know Mitch has an idea for it, and literally, that is all I know. If it works out, great, I would love to do it, of course. “
Hale can currently be seen on Veep, where he has won two Emmys for his role, while Shawkat recently starred in Netflix’s Pee-wee’s Big Holiday.
