“I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time, I’d rather not spend the rest of this winter tied to this f—ing couch!”

Will we ever tire of quoting director John Carpenter’s classic 1982 monster movie The Thing? Almost certainly not. But, today, we have a really good excuse. Horror-oriented imprint Scream Factory has released the artwork for its two-disc collector’s edition of the classic, Kurt Russell-starring chiller (which you can see above) and details of the set’s many bonus features.

In addition to an array of previously available extras, the release will boast an an array of new goodies, including a commentary from director of photography Dean Cundey, a Cundey-supervised 2K scan of the film, a featurette called The Men of Outpost 31 featuring interviews with Keith David, Thomas Waites, and Peter Maloney among others, and a chat with novelization author Alan Dean Foster.

The collector’s edition of The Thing is released Sept. 30. The set can be pre-ordered at the Scream Factory website with purchasers receiving a slipcover and a limited edition poster featuring art by Paul Shipper. The Thing is also available in a deluxe format, limited to 1,500 orders, with a second slipcover and another poster, designed by Nat Marsh.

You can see a vintage trailer for The Thing below.
