Doctor Who: Peter Capaldi talks Clara
Has Peter Capaldi just let the cat — or the Clara —out of the bag?
Much of last year’s Doctor Who season was devoted to the long-flagged departure of Jenna Coleman’s Clara Oswald. First the Doctor’s “companion” was seemingly killed in the “Face the Raven” episode, only for her to be rescued by Capaldi’s Time Lord. Clara then erased all memories of her from the Doctor’s mind and disappeared to parts (and times) unknown in a stolen TARDIS with Maisie Williams’ Ashidr.
Regardless, speaking over the weekend at Awesome Con in Washington, D.C., Capaldi intimated that fans of the long-running time travel show might yet see the pair together onscreen again. “I’m not sure how successfully Clara was able to wipe his mind,” the actor said, according to The Radio Times. “I just… I was about to tell you something I can’t tell you.” Prompted to expand on that, Capaldi revealed, “I just shot something that Clara was still there in.”
So, does this mean Clara will return to Doctor Who? Well, that’s not out of the question, given departing executive producer Steven Moffat’s penchant for bringing back characters. In this specific case, however, the shoot to which Capaldi referred may well have been for the currently-in-production Doctor Who spin-off show, Class, which is set at the school in London where Clara worked as a teacher.
