Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce, the Fuse docu-series chronicling the life and drama of New Orleans’ biggest bounce star, returns Wednesday night and to preview the series, EW has an exclusive peek at what’s in store for Freedia during her biggest year yet.

“You’ll see the moment I found out I was going to be on Beyoncé’s ‘Formation,'” Freedia, who’s featured with a verse on Bey’s hit song, tells EW. “I was at home, I died, and I came back to life right then and there. It was one of the best moments forever, getting a call from Beyoncé herself.”

Though fans won’t actually see Beyoncé on the series, Queen of Bounce will show how Freedia’s feature on the track launched her into a totally new audience and inspired her to expand her music outside of the bounce genre.

Throughout the season, the show will follow her as she records her third full-length album, due out this fall. “We got a new sound BDM: bounce dance music,” she tells EW. “You’ll see the making of [already-released single] ‘I Heard.’ You will see a collaboration with me and Mannie Fresh. You’ll definitely hear more of the album’s music on the show.”

Below, check out a sneak peek of Queen of Bounce, in which Freedia loses her crown at a Mardi Gras parade. (“I stopped the whole damn parade!” she says).

Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce season 5 premieres on Fuse Wednesday at 11 p.m. E.T.
