12-year-old Grace VanderWaal stuns judges and audiences with original tune

So much for not knowing her name.

Twelve-year-old singer and ukulele player Grace VanderWaal made a dramatic first impression on Tuesday’s episode of America’s Got Talent, bringing the house down with her original tune “I Don’t Know My Name” and getting the golden buzzer from judge Howie Mandel.

Cutting an adorable figure with her bright yellow pants, Peter Pan collar, and blond bob, the young musician stunned the judges and audience with her folksy, confident performance. In addition to receiving a standing ovation, Grace earned a trip straight to the next round thanks to Mandel, who called her “a living, beautiful, walking miracle.”

She even won over the notoriously hard-to-please Simon Cowell, who gushed, “Grace, you know what I predict for you? I think you are the next Taylor Swift.”

Given Grace’s precocious talent and aw-shucks humility, he could be on to something.

In the meantime, Grace was still glowing from the experience Wednesday, tweeting, “I still can’t believe that happened last night, Thank you so much for making me feel so special.” Watch her performance above.
