The new animated Voltron series is set for release on Netflix this Friday — but first, it’s time to meet the villains that our heroes will be up against.

Voltron: Legendary Defender, a Dreamworks reboot of the 1980s series, follows five unlikely heroes brought together to battle the evil in the galaxy. The teenagers unite with their flying robot lions to form the powerful Voltron.

The chief adversary for the Voltron crew is Emperor Zarkon (voiced by Neil Kaplan). Zarkon is the cruel leader of the Galra Empire, who for over 10,000 years has been searching the universe for the Voltron lions.

Zarkon’s military leader is the fierce Commander Sendak (Jake Eberle). The Commander is willing to do whatever it takes to bring down Voltron and make Zarkon proud. Sendak is now part robot, as he lost his arm in battle and had it replaced with an appendage that includes a laser blaster.

Rounding out Zarkon’s team is Haggar (Cree Summer), a loyal adviser to the Zarkon She’s an ageless and psychic witch who has formed her own coven of followers to help go against Voltron.

The series — which also stars The Walking Dead‘s Steven Yeun (Keith), Tyler Labine (Hunk), and Rhys Darby (Coran)— will have a one-hour origin story and 10 more episodes available to stream on Netflix on Friday.
