Breaking out of prison is a dangerous task, and apparently so is pretending to do it. Prison Break actor Dominic Purcell shocked fans by posting a couple of photos of his bloodied and bandaged face on Thursday.

Purcell shared that he had broken his nose and and busted open parts of his head after a set piece — an iron ball — fell on him while filming for the upcoming Prison Break event series in Morocco. Thankfully, Purcell is resilient, and Fox will not delay the show’s production, which is slated to premiere in 2017.

“Our friend and colleague Dominic Purcell was injured earlier this week during the filming of our event series Prison Break, and was flown to a medical facility where he received treatment,” the network said in a statement. “We are happy to report that he is in great spirits and is expected to make a full recovery. He wanted us to express his appreciation to the fans around the world who have expressed their concern and support, and to reassure them that he will be back at work very soon.”

Purcell’s spirits certainly seem to be high in his Instagram posts. Although the photos and descriptions of his injury are horrific, his captions seem to show that he is healing well and has a sense of humor about the situation.

“Stoked to be alive. All good,” Purcell wrote in his first post. He went on to even joke about the gruesome-looking accident: “I didn’t get knocked out took a knee. Ha!! Doc said I have an unusually tough tissue fiber that’s what saved me apparently. Thank god for my #Viking heritage hahaha !!!!”
