Spice World: Mel B surprises audience at screening of Spice Girls film
On Wednesday night, a group of moviegoers got their life spiced up with a surprise appearance from Melanie Brown at a special screening of Spice World.
Brown, a.k.a. Mel B, stopped by Los Angeles’ Montalban Theater for a Rooftop Cinema Club screening of the 1997 musical comedy that she starred in back in her Spice Girl days, when she was known as Scary Spice. The singer took to Instagram to share a picture from the event and added, “Ok people spending time tonight at @rooftopfilmclub watching the one and only #spiceworld so lovely to meet you all #surprise.”

In Spice World, the group played themselves as they dealt with fictional events leading up to a concert performance in London. The film, while not well received critically, was a box office success and developed a devoted fanbase.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the debut single “Wannabe” from the British pop group that quickly became a global phenomenon. Brown, who’s currently a judge on America’s Got Talent, has stated that talks of a reunion tour are ongoing.
“We are in talks with each other closely,” she said in March on the Allegedly with Theo Von & Matthew Cole Weiss podcast. “But until something’s official, there’s no point saying anything until there are tour dates to announce. I do feel like it’s getting closer and closer. I’ve been trying to get those bitches together for years!”
