The Bellas are moving from summertime to #Pitchmas. Universal Pictures has shifted Pitch Perfect 3‘s release date again, moving it back from July 21, 2017 to Dec. 22, 2017.
Earlier this month, the aca-sequel was set for late July 2017, moved up from August 2017. Next year’s summer slate is set to be a gigantic one with Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, Baywatch, The Mummy, Christopher Nolan’s World War II thriller Dunkirk, and Spider-Man: Homecoming as a small selection of the titles pegged to be released then.
The 2017 holiday season is currently headlined by Star Wars: Episode VIII and Mark Wahlberg as The Six Billion Dollar Man. Last winter, Universal’s Sisters and Paramount’s Daddy’s Home were a pair of successful comedies, respectively making $105 million and $240 million.
Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, director Elizabeth Banks, and writer Kay Cannon return from Pitch Perfect 2, which made $288 million worldwide. The original 2013 film raked in $115 million worldwide.
