Norman Reedus went on some cool rides on some cool roads while filming his new unscripted series Ride with Norman Reedus. He also got to do it with some cool people, like motorcycle movie legend Peter Fonda.

The dynamic duo biked across Florida and down to Key West for the new AMC series (which debuts June 12), and Reedus says it was a once in a lifetime experience. “To sit with Peter Fonda and talk about Easy Rider in a place he used to live… the stories were just mind blowing left and right.”

After the journey was complete, there was another story in the making as Reedus and Fonda continued to bond with a bunch of sailors over tequila shots in an airport bar. “We’re sitting there,” says Reedus, “and the guys who own the crossbow company that I use on [The Walking Dead] text me and they’re like, ‘Hey, we have a new crossbow. We want to send you this crossbow.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m here with Peter Fonda, Can he have a crossbow?’”

Not only did Fonda get his crossbow, but it seems we may have a budding Daryl Dixon wannabe on our hands. “He just texted me last night,” says Reedus of Fonda, “and he’s talking about getting these laser sights and all these things and this stuff. And midsentence he just goes, ‘Oh, gotta go eat. Bye.’ He’s such a character.”

But that story may not be as good as the one about when the two first met, well before Reedus and Fonda costarred together in Boondock Saints II.
